New Images

The graphics will appear somewhat different from the original idea-they will have localized Edward Muybridge time-lapse look. I haven't seen it tried in any of the geological literature I've read, and I think the idea lends itself well to a geomorphic narrative.

Image test

This is an image test helping me see whether or not a background image, text, a paleogeographic globe and a zoom detail can work together. Don't worry, the background image will be in color eventually. WOW, just 38 images to go!

Olympic Penninsula

Took a road trip to the Olympic Penninsula in NW Washington. Did a lot of drawings--which was the point for going, and saw some places that deserve further exploration. I am readu to get back into landscape drawing, and have printed out the layout for poster 2. Drawings will commence shortly.

Out of the Blue

This upcoming week will be Spring Drawing. I always go through a slump of artmaking in the winter, but now that there are signs of Spring, my fingers are getting itchy again...

Intervention

I yield. I am now seeking professional help to get this website off the ground. It's been months of waiting, and it's ridiculous. My efforts are being focused on getting the word out there and making new posters, not CSS style sheets and html.

#@@*$$ IT!

Just realized I printed my business cards with the wrong #$@*-ing font! *&%$@!!!

Been awhile

Have thrown together some pages for the shoppingcart. Just waiting for K's expertise in such matters to make all the buttons work and go beep. The site ain't goin to win any design awards, but at this point, Best is the Enemy of Better. And Anything is Better than Nothing, am I right?

Oh-yeah-finally got some business cards printed up-

Concept

Here's a concept drawing for some of the new posters. This will make a lot more sense when there is some information to convey. I have close to a hundred of these drawings now--they take longer to produce then you'd think--but a new layout is evolving and soon I will have a framework to 'hang' some ideas on.

Surgery

I have returned from my several day visit to Pullman Washington. My dog had leg surgery at the Veterinary Hospital there-and I spent a couple of gray, rainy days in a room accruing empty pizza boxes and styrofoam cofee cups. Now, as I sit and write these words, do I realize I just wasted a lot of gas money and driving time for a procedure that could have been done locally. I am the biggest moron alive.

Drawing Fields

I am leaving for the coast this weekend to produce a handfull of landscape drawings. The past few outings hace not produced very good drawings, and I feel my rushing through the trip has affected that. I have been giving away a lot of these studies lately, and I was surprised to find I hardly have any left. Some of these studies will make their way into the new poster, others will make it to people's fridge magnets. Weird to think there are dozens of my drawings on fridges all over the country.

Adnonsense

A quick experiment for the blog. I have signed up for Adsense with Google, but because there is no hope in making anykind of revenue with it, it should function as a measuring stick on how many people are visiting the site and exploring it. Yes, yes, I know---it helps to have a functioning website for someone to explore.

You people are testy this morning.

Chugging along

The website is making slow but steady progress. I'm allocating all 'attentionspace' to it now.

There are a lot of ideas in the works for future production, but I'm not sure what people want to see. I'm not sure people know what they want to see, but there have to be things which they wished they understood better. Health? Psychology/Cognitive Science? Geology?

It's difficult trying to figure out what people want to understand as well as mapping ways for them to understand it. People seem to recoil form outright explanantion, even if it descibes something right in front of them. I suppose I'm drifting into the realm of Poets and Writers, but still saddled with the responsibility of empiricism.
